Made good time after getting out of Mount Vernon. What a mess there. They just don't know how to deal with 6" of snow. Reports there were that there was no power, therefore no gas, for the next 200 miles through Kentucky. So, we fueled up before leaving. The roads were wet in spots, but otherwise OK. Kentucky, and specially Paducah, were a mess, with broken trees due to inches of ice. The road was clear of trees, but you could see where some had fallen onto the road and been cut to clear the road. See the picture to the left.
Spent the night at the Flying J in Oak Grove, GA. Had my birthday dinner with the rest of the truckers. My dream come true. No snow here, no ice, some green grass, just a diesel RV parked next to our bedroom, that started up and idled at 3AM.
We're ready to go the last few miles to Marietta and the Swans.
